    My New Haircut

Got my hair cut yesterday, it ended up a little shorter than I expected. And I have bangs.

  • Feels like Monday

Back at work today, after a 4 day weekend. My days off were not very fun or productive as I think I am coming down with strep throat. Lots of sleeping and watching Alias – I am ¾ of the way through the first season.

  • A Coffee A Day

Several times a week I can be found at my neighborhood Caribou Coffee getting my caffeine fix. Either a skim latte or cappuccino. With a bit of honey and cinnamon. According to this article it could be quite beneficial. And quite yummy at the very least.

  • I Should Get A Bonus

Or at least part of my gym memberships paid for. This article explains why active employees are healthier and more productive than the not-so-active ones. I know I sure am more productive after a good workout. Even after a not-so-great workout.

  • Batman Begins

Saw Batman Begins last night, which was opening night. It was really good - although the theater was rather full - we had to sit up too close. (more reviews)

Went to Macaroni Grill before the movie - I had the best salad - Insalata Rossa - need to try making it at home. We haven’t eaten at those type places (chain restaurants) hardly at all since we got married - I can make just as good food at home, and its not so salty! But it is nice not to have to clean up.

  • Jacksonville, Florida

    jacksonville beach

Jacksonville? Where? At least it was warm. Unseasonably warm. In the beginning of January Sherzy had the privilege of flying to sunny Jacksonville (location of the upcoming Superbowl) for work reasons. Sherzy left on a Wednesday morning when the temperature in MN was about 15 degrees, to arrive to a humid 72 in Jacksonville. Not bad. And there was a beach. Thursday and Friday were spent working, but Saturday allowed Sherzy several uninterrupted hours at the beach, even time to participate in a couple games of beach volleyball! A very slight tan was acquired, but unfortunately it has quickly faded. Hopefully soon Sherzy will be able to return to a warm, sunny place!

  • New York City

    new york

In the middle of December the Hubby traveled to New York City, NY for work. He was to be there for 2 whole weeks, so his company was kind enough to fly Sherzy out to spend the weekend in NYC. She took a Friday and Monday off, so there would be time for shopping. He ended up with a suite at the Drake (the Gideon’s did not stamp the Bible!) which was very nice, although the fact that he fell sick that weekend was not fun. They still managed to make it to a Broadway musical, Movin’ Out, which was excellent, as well as have wonderful sushi with friends Sara and Jason, and even visit the zoo in Central Park. Sherzy enjoyed shopping and a manicure in Trump Tower, but did not enjoy coming home with the same sickness Hubby had.

  • Vail, Colorado

    vail

In early December Sherzy and Hubby went to Vail, CO for a ski vacation. It was early season, so rates were cheap, and they took advantage of it! Ski-in, ski-out lodging for unbelievable prices, buy one day, get one day free lift passes. And the snow was good! Back bowls were not yet open, which made Sherzy very unhappy, but there was plenty to do on the front side. Many interesting encounters in the gondola and excellent dinners at nearby restaurants. Sherzy came home with new (to her) skis even!

  • Q and A With Sammy

One of the lamest 80s power ballads is undoubtedly When Its Love by Van Halen. I mean come on, if you can’t answer the questions, don’t write a song about them!
I love how the band sings the questions to Sammy, he replies with his lame answers:

Band: How do I know when it’s love?
Sammy: I can’t tell you but it lasts forever
Band: How does feel when it’s love?
Sammy: It’s just something you feel together

Duh. I still think Van Halen is great, love a lot of their music, but that song will always annoy me, and possibly you now too.
