The hubby once had a spicy pasta dish known as Fra Diavolo at a tiny Italian place in Atlantic City. Fra Diavolo is italian for “brother devil” and is usually a red sauce and always spicy. I have never had true Fra Diavolo at a restaurant, but Macaroni Grill make a pretty good spicy red sauce, which is where I got the inspiration for this dish. I love making this dish – its super easy and I can put in as much seafood as I like – in contrast to the pitiful amount of seafood you get when eating out. First, the ingredients:

The ingredients
Wine optional. Note on the seafood – I tend to get what is on sale and looks good. You could do this with any combination of the above, or only shrimp, or only clams, etc…
Next, put water on to boil. Salt water and add linguine when boiling. Pour sauce in a deep pan, heat up. Put a little of the sauce plus some water in a shallow pan with lid (see bottom left). Add tomatoes and red pepper flakes to main sauce pan. Once sauce is hot and bubbly, add shrimp and mussels in their respective pans (see below)

After the shrimp have been in sauce for about 2 1/2 minutes add the scallops. About 1-2 minutes later add the arugula. It looks like a lot at first, but it really cooks down.

See what I am saying?

Once arugula has cooked down turn off heat. Mussels should be done, the entire cooking time once you put the seafood in is 7-8 minutes, approximately same time it takes to cook the linguine. See how quick and easy this is!

Dish up. Yum! Serve with crusty bread.
Where’s my invite?
I loves me some Lobster Fra Diavolo.
