I am subscribed to both ICanHasCheezburger.com (LOL Cats – cat photos with funny captions) and ICanHasaHotdog.com (LOL Dogs – dog photos with funny captions) through Google Reader. Each morning I check the feed and have noticed a trend – on average there are 2 more LOL Cats per day than LOL Dogs. This could be due to the fact that LOL Cats have been around longer, or the fact that ICanHasCheez includes furry animals that aren’t cats. Or cats are just funnier.
You can see my LOL cats here, and an LOL dog here. I need to make more LOL dogs (my excuse is 2 cats, 1 dog).

I found my favorite tea, Honest Tea Moroccan Mint, at Lakewinds Coop today. It has a light mint flavor and just a hint of sweetness, love it. Inside the bottle cap there is always a quote. Today’s:
Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.
- Confucius
I wonder what Confucius would think of Photoshop?

For some strange reason on Friday morning I decided to make some sangria (I think the reason may have been so I could use up some bad wine I had in the cellar). I did a quick Google search for a good sangria recipe since I had never really made sangria before, and as you would imagine thousands of results were returned. A quick look at a few of the recipes confirmed my other suspicion: there are thousands of variations of how to make “sangria”. It seems the only things all these recipes had in common were fruit (whole and/or juice), liquor (brandy, vodka, rum, etc…) and wine (usually red). So I was pretty much on my own (not that I have ever been known to follow recipes). Here is what I did:
In a pitcher I put:
Then I added the liquor. In this case:
(We have all sorts of random fruit-flavored liquors in the cabinet left over from various parties and visitors. I think this may be the perfect way to finally use them all up!)
Then dumped in the crappy wine (which splashed on my skirt because I was too dumb to put on an apron, which lead to me telling the story all day of how I spilled wine on myself that morning and that is why I was wearing the wrong skirt). I later learned when talking to a sangria-making-friend that using cheap wine is the best way to go.
I served the sangria that night (I think you usually let it sit longer, but it was good) over ice with just a little ginger ale. Photos would be nice, maybe next time. Or maybe I will go home and make more so I can take photos.

We recently watched a couple movies (we are very behind in movie viewing - I blame the DVR).
Dan in Real Life
This movie was good. Not great, but good. I guess it can be called a “romantic comedy” – it is the story of a widower with 3 daughters who meets a woman and falls in love. Of course its not that easy, she happens to be his brother’s girlfriend. There were several scenes that made me laugh out loud, and others that made me squirm because of how uncomfortable the situations were.
Steve Carell did a fairly good job playing a more serious role, although there were a few moments that made me think of Michael Scott (the character he plays in the Office).
National Treasure 2
Another great family movie. This sequel was as good as the first, which can be difficult. The premise of this movie is to clear the name of Ben Gate’s great grandfather, and to find treasure (of course). The pacing is good, fast enough to keep viewers engaged, but not so fast that you lose track of what is going on.

Bailey and her work buddy Dexter playing at the office. Its difficult to get these 2 to settle down enough for a non-blurry photo. Notice Bailey’s new hot pink collar!
