A tasty, healthy salad that I originally had at Macaroni Grill (I don’t think it is currently on their menu). Features strawberries, feta, and red onions.

Ingredients

• Julienne spinach
• Baby arugula
• Julienne radicchio
• Red onions, sliced
• Chicken breast slices, grilled
• Fresh strawberries
• Feta cheese, fat free
• Strawberry Balsamic Dressing

Preparation

1. Strawberry balsamic dressing is a 2.1 mixture of pureed strawberries and balsamic vinegar. Note: I have used strawberry jam thinned with a little water in place of the pureed strawberries - worked great
2. Top greens with onion, chicken breast slices and fresh strawberries. Toss together in Strawberry balsamic dressing. Pile high and top with crumbled fat free feta cheese.

I discovered an interesting Internet Explorer CSS bug today relating to relatively positioned elements inside and element with overflow set to auto.

Say you make a div that scrolls using some basic CSS

.overflow {
height:250px;
width:200px;
overflow:auto;
}

Works just fine, as the example below shows:

But, if you set any of the child elements to

#test2 p {position:relative;}

Scrolling will no longer behave as expected. It seems Internet Explorer incorrectly overlays the relatively positioned element, making it seem “fixed” when when placed in an overflow box.

I have not had the time to look for a word around, except to remove the position:relative (in my particular case I did not need that declaration). For more details the W3C Visual formatting model

I have been hoping to update this site more often, so here is what has been going on:

We had a gaming party last (Thanksgiving) weekend, it was lots of fun. Friday night we topped out with 12 people, including my brother Jon who came all the way from Montevideo (and he brought lots of turkey). I made a double lasagna which turned out really good. Nerd_bait brought her new Nintendo Wii – I bowled a 134. Played a lot of Battleships, and learned a new boards game - Settlers of Catan – which we have been playing online this week.

Yesterday I bowled for real – work had a project-completion celebration: lunch and an afternoon at Gameworks. My real bowling is not as good as Wii bowling – I scored 85 both games. I did not expect to do very good; I was happy to get one strike.

Other tidbits: Weather is cold, but I got a warm, puffy coat. Found a Taco Johns in the skyway (I don’t have to go outside at all to get there) had lunch there today. Got hair cut yesterday. Still watching Heroes. My life is really not very exciting.
