You Do Not Get Many Days Like This

Trees at AftonIt was a beautiful weekend. Perfectly sunny and about 70 degrees each day, with that crispness that fall brings. We don’t get very many days like that here, so we made the best of them. Saturday went to Afton State Park, did some hiking. The trees weren’t at their peak, but it was still very pretty, as the picture at the left shows. They have backpack camping at the park, we walked past the campgrounds, most of which were occupied, it looks like fun. I have never backpack camped, much less camped the regular way (there was that one trip to Canada, but I wouldn’t really count that), but I would like to try.

Sunday we played golf, it was only the second time I have ever golfed. We played a “short course” of 9 holes, it was just right. I had a couple good shots (or what ever you call them in golf) and improved quite a bit. Kris and I shared his clubs; I don’t think I want to play golf enough to merit getting my own clubs. I would rather invest in my own skis – I am sick of renting. Speaking of skiing, we are going to Vail at the beginning of December, looks like its snowy already!
